We are committed to reducing energy use in our clinics
Some of the things we have done include:
- Switching off lights when not needed e.g. hall lights and consult room lights outside of consulting hours, surgery lights when surgery not in use
- We only leave basic security lighting on at night
- We are replacing our current light bulbs with energy efficient light bulbs as they blow
- We keep heating to kennels and cattery appropriate based on type of cases in hospital and turn it off when there are no animals staying
- We dry our washing outside wherever possible
- We are switching to using polar fleece blankets in our kennels and cattery which are still nice and warm but easier to wash and dry
- We bought a more energy efficient clothes dryer when our old one died
- We now switch off all computers at night and on weekends
We also buy our electricity from Meridian Energy so it is carbon neutral.
