What is a repeat prescription?
When your pet is put onto a medicine that he or she needs to be on long term we call this a repeat prescription. Examples of this are arthritis medications such as rimadyl, metacam or previcox, incontinence medication such as incurin or propalin and heart medication such as vetmedin or fortekor.

Why does my pet need a check up every 6 months?
Vets are required by law to check patients that are on long term medication every 6 months. Remember that one year in your life equals three years in your pet's life so really this is a check up every 1.5 years! This check up is important as all medications have a risk of side effects. These side effects can be subtle in their early stages so you may not necessarily recognise them but your pet will. We also need to check that your pet is not deteriorating on the medication and require a dose change or a complete change of medication altogether.
Will I get a reminder that my pet's 6 month check is coming up?
Yes. We are in the process of setting up our computer system to send you a reminder when your 6 month term is nearly up.
