Veterinarian and practice owner
I have been part of Tasman Bay Vets for 7 years. I enjoy working in a mixed animal practice where there is never a dull moment! I enjoy the challenges that we get here. I also enjoy the Community feel of the Motueka/Mapua region and the clients, who are great to deal with.
While I am a mixed animal vet and can tackle anything that is thrown at me, I have a particular fondness for cows, having grown up on a dairy farm! I also enjoy small animal medicine and I like the challenge of diagnosing disease and performing soft tissue surgery.
When I’m not at the clinic, I enjoy being in the Great Outdoors. I am a keen mountain biker, kayaker, tramper and climber, so living in the Tasman Region I am a bit spoilt for choice on weekends.
I am currently owned by 2 cats, Dharma and Elie who arrived on the scene shortly after I started in my first job in Ashburton. They are two Tabby Moggies. I am also at the beck and call of Khumbu, a 3 year old Chocolate Labrador. Having recently moved into a new house on a lifestyle block at Tasman, I have acquired some alpacas and am looking forward to getting some chooks come spring!
Growing up on a dairy farm I have always been exposed to animals and I knew I wanted to do a job that involved working with animals. When I was about 14 years old a vet came out to our farm and post-mortemed a cow that had died. The cow was huge and the vet was small! As an impressionable teenager I was blown away by the vet when she practically jumped right inside this cow to do the post mortem. I was sold and the rest is history!
I have owned Tasman Bay Vets for the last 5 years. During that time the Practice has grown a lot, as well as shifted into new premises. I am lucky to have built up a fantastic team of hard working, talented and enthusiastic vets, nurses and admin staff. I am sure that they will take good care of the business, the animals and the clients while I take some maternity leave from September this year.
