Veterinary Nurse and Customer Care

I’ve been working at Tasman Bay Vets since I graduated as a Vet Nurse in July 2005. I have always had a love for animals and as a child planned to be a Vet. After leaving school I spent a few years doing seasonal work before coming back to my true calling of working in the veterinary industry, but as a nurse instead of a vet.
I work both on reception and in surgery which I enjoy. I have a particular interest in dog behaviour and run the puppy school here at the clinic. Prior to beginning this in 2008 I attended a three day course on dog training and behaviour presented by Dr. Ian Dunbar, a well known animal behaviourist and veterinarian. During 2009 I completed a Massey University paper – Principles of Canine Behaviour.
My partner and I have seven dogs between us. I have two dogs of my own, a foxy cross called Charm and a catahoula, bully cross called Mouse (a pigdog that didn’t make the grade) and Damian has a pack of five pigdogs. We also have a 7 year old black moggie called Jin and several netherland dwarf rabbits, as I breed them.
When I’m not at work I spend the majority of my time with my 6 year old Arab X Paint mare Ali, working our way through the Parelli Natural Horsemanship program. I ride mainly just for the enjoyment of it and really love getting out for a good ride in the forestry or along the beach, although I do plan on doing some competitive trail rides this coming season and maybe getting into endurance riding in the not too distant future.
